Goat Island drowning incident: Indian man feared dead

The thirty year old man who lost his life in an unfortunate drowning incident in Auckalnd's Goat Island on Monday, February 4, is reported to be an Indian national. 

Earlier Police was notified around 3.40 p.m. to an incident at Goat Island where a male was unresponsive in the water.

CPR was administered at the scene and the male was airlifted to Auckland Hospital in a critical condition.

Sadly the male, who is aged in his 30’s, died overnight in the hospital.

The police informed that the next of kin are in the process of being notified and the death has been referred to the Coroner.

The Indian Weekender had learnt from the reliable sources in the community that the man was originally from New Delhi and was in New Zealand since last few years, working as a chef.
