Actor R Madhavan’s 16-year-old son Vedaant Madhavan, a swimmer, has won a silver and gold medal for India at the Danish Open Swimming Meet in Copenhagen. The proud father took to social media to share the news with his followers.
Vedaant won the gold medal in the 800m swimming event and clocked 8:17.28. He also clocked 15.57.86 in the men's 1500m freestyle event to finish in the second spot.
Sharing a video clip from the felicitation ceremony on his Instagram handle, the actor had thanked his son's coach Pradeep Kumar and the swimming federation of India for their support.
While Vedaant’s performance was good enough to fetch him a gold at the meet, it is a long way from international standards. USA’s Robert Finke had won the gold at the Tokyo Olympics in the event last year with a timing of 7:41.87, while the world record for the event stands at 7:32.12.
However, Vedaant, son of Indian actor R Madhavan, has shown immense improvement. He has bettered his personal best times in all three events he has participated in in the ongoing meet.
Considering his age, he has udoubtedly made a difference for India and does have a bright future in the field.
