Kiwi-Indian's stolen truck reappears, with a sorry note!

Kiwi-Indian Varun Chada has found himself in a saga that left him questioning both his sanity and the spelling abilities of his truck-napper.

It all began when Chada's trusty truck, parked conveniently outside his Kati Street cafe, pulled a Houdini act. One moment it was there, the next it vanished, leaving the cafe owner stunned.

He suspected he might be losing his mind, until four days later, when reality played another trick on him. There it was, the missing truck, sitting nonchalantly in the exact same spot!

To add a dash of literary flair to the absurdity, the prodigal truck came with an unexpected accessory—an apology letter. The thief, claiming to be under the influence of spirits, had misspelled 'sorry' as 'sori.' A linguistic misdemeanor, but forgivable considering the circumstances.

Inside the note, the audacious perpetrator even mentioned leaving some “new toys” in the truck's cargo hold for Chada's son.

Chada, torn between indignation and amusement, marveled at the audacity of the apology. "I’m not condoning what they did is fine, but I mean, they gave it back and they said sorry so, I don’t know, I’m just stoked to get it back, put it that way," New Zealand Herald quoted him as saying in a story published November 26, 2023.

The saga didn't end with the truck's return; the Auckland police, perhaps intrigued by the audacious caper, were conducting forensic tests.

Meanwhile, the tale spread like wildfire on social media, turning Chada's misadventure into the talk of the town.  Hundreds of likes, shares, and incredulous comments later, the story became a legend.
