Get ready to kick off the festive season with the much-anticipated return of Farmers Santa Parade, set to mark its 90th anniversary this Sunday, November 26.

The streets of Auckland will transform into a winter wonderland, captivating audiences with enchanting floats, lively music, and the timeless arrival of Santa Claus.

The parade began 90 years ago in 1933. Back then, thousands of parents and children lined the footpaths to witness Auckland’s first real Christmas parade.

This year's parade boasts of an array of captivating floats, with the Elf on the Shelf taking centrestage. Based on the beloved picture book, the float depicts the mischievous scout elf who keeps a watchful eye on households and reports back to Santa at the North Pole.

Adding a touch of Kiwiana charm, the parade will showcase a lively set featuring kids dressed as sheep, shepherds, a mischievous sheepdog in disguise, a conga line of marching kiwi fruit and penguins, Pacifica elves, buzzy bees, tuis, and eels on scooters.

After the floats have made their way through the 1.6-km route, the festivities continue at Santa's Party in Aotea Square. Attendees can enjoy a fantastic lineup of stage entertainment, indulge in delicious food from various vendors, and partake in activities suitable for the entire family.

An hour-long pre-parade at noon will lead into the main event from 1pm. After the parade, Santa's Party in Aotea Square will keep the excitement alive from 2pm to 5pm.

To ensure a seamless experience, organisers have arranged free parking for vehicles parked before 11am and exited between 2pm and 6pm at designated Auckland Transport car parks. However, exiting before 2pm or after 6pm will incur a fee.

For those using public transportation, various options like buses, trains, and ferries are available to get to the city center for the parade. Children under 13 travel for free, but those over five will need a registered HOP card.
