The North Shore community is gearing up to embrace the joyous spirit of Diwali, the festival of lights, in a grand celebration hosted by North Shore Community Events. The much-awaited event, organized by Punish Budhiraja and Anna Trivedi from Barfoot and Thompson, promises an unforgettable experience for all attendees. 

North Shore First Diwali Festival is set to illuminate Hato Petera Sports Fields, located at 88 College Road, near AUT campus, on Saturday, October 28. With free entry and ample parking, the event aims to bring together people from all walks of life to partake in the festivities and cultural richness.

Mark your calendars and be prepared to immerse yourself in a dynamic blend of traditional and contemporary activities, says Budhiraja. 

“The event aims to foster a sense of togetherness and celebrate the rich tapestry of Indian culture. From pulsating music to delectable culinary delights, there's something for everyone at North Shore First Diwali Festival,” he says.

The event promises a treat for families, as there will be a lot of fun engaging activities for children, ensuring a heavy dose of excitement for the young ones. Kids' activities have been carefully curated to provide entertainment and education, allowing them to explore the beauty and significance of Diwali in an interactive and engaging manner.

“The festival will feature an array of art and craft stalls showcasing the finest works of local artisans, providing an excellent opportunity to appreciate and support the talent within the community. Visitors can expect to find unique, handcrafted items that reflect the vibrancy and diversity of Indian artistry,” Trivedi say

Food enthusiasts are in for a treat as well, with an assortment of delectable Indian delicacies available at the various food stalls. From aromatic spices to mouthwatering sweets, attendees will have the chance to savour authentic Indian flavors that truly capture the essence of this festive occasion. 

In the true spirit of Diwali, the festival of lights, the event will culminate with a mesmerising fireworks display at 9.30pm, set to illuminate the night sky and fill it with an enchanting display of colors, adding an extra touch of magic to the evening's celebrations.
