A Telugu community group had organised a blood donation camp and a memorial in honour of the former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh on his 14th death anniversary.
The YSRCP NRI New Zealand held the blood donation drive last weekend on September 2, 2023, at NZ Blood in Epsom and the Dr YSR Vardhanthi programme at Wesley Community Centre, to commemorate Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy, the former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.
“The whole plan of this drill was to remember the great soul and the 14th Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Dr YSR on his death anniversary whose life left a huge impression on the communities living back home and the ones living overseas,” says Mr Anand Yeddula, leader of the YSRCP NRI’s New Zealand wing.
Yeddula also says that the blood donation drive was dedicated to Mr Reddy and the impact his service has had on people in India.
“A personification of an ideal leader and a man who knows no fear... That is YS Rajasekhara Reddy for you,” says Yeddula.
The memorial at Wesley Centre was attended by Telugu community leaders and politicians, including National MP candidate for Manurewa Siva Kilari, Founding president of Mana Andhra Telugu Association, Prathap Nadireddy, and former presidents of NZ Telugu Association Bala Beeram, Jagadishwar Reddy, Srilatha Magatala, and Kalyan Rao.
