The Hindu Elders Foundation (HEF) marked its 16th anniversary with a joyous and heartwarming celebration at Balmoral Community Centre.
The event that took place on July 23 witnessed a full house, with more than 190 attendees, including esteemed members, special guests, and dignitaries from the Kiwi-Indian community, coming together to commemorate the foundation’s unwavering commitment to serving the community.
The event kicked off with an aura of excitement and pride as the HEF celebrated its anniversary with enthusiasm and vigour. The chief guest of the event was Judge Ajit Swaran Singh, whose presence added grace and prestige to the occasion.
Sanghchalak of Hindu Swyamsevak Sangh, New Zealand, Shrikant Bhave delivered a speech on the significance of an organisation like the Hindu Elders Foundation and its vital role in the community. He emphasised the pivotal role elders play in shaping society and preserving traditional values.
The ceremony commenced with a warm welcome extended by SP Pahuja, President of HEF, who expressed gratitude to all the dignitaries and guests for their presence.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Hon Consul of India in Auckland Bhav Dhillon, parliamentarian Michael Wood, NZ Police’s Ethnic Responsiveness Manager Jessica Phuang and Founder and Chairperson of Bhartiya Samaj Charitable Trust among others.
Talking to The Indian Weekender, Yatish Wadhera, Secretary of HEF, said, “The foundation believes in fostering a sense of belonging and inclusivity, and thus, the seniors were encouraged to participate in the festivities wholeheartedly as it helps to alleviate the issue of isolation that some may face.
“It was great to see many attendees dancing alongside the dignitaries, including Michael Wood, Jessica Phuang, Jeet Sachdev, Roopa Sachdev and other esteemed guests, showcasing the spirit of unity and joy that the HEF stands for.
“Such gatherings not only commemorate the foundation's achievements but also act as a catalyst for socialising and strengthening community bonds. The event showcased the foundation's commitment to promoting wisdom, unity, and service,”
As the event came to an end, CP Satija delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks to all the attendees, guests, and volunteers whose efforts and contributions made the anniversary celebration a resounding success.
One of the attendees and President of New Zealand Telangana Central Association, Kalyan Rao Kasuganti, praised the event.
