Indian killed in South Island car crash

An Indian has died in a single-vehicle crash near Mount Cook. Two other individuals were rushed to the hospital with injuries after the accident on June 20, 2023. 

The deceased has been identified as Devansh Shah, who had arrived in the country just three months ago.

According to a police statement, emergency services were called to the scene at Mount Cook Road (State Highway 80) at Glentanner Station in MacKenzie District at about 12.05pm. 

Of the two who survived, one is currently in a critical condition and receiving treatment at Christchurch Hospital, while the other is in a serious condition and being attended to at a hospital in Dunedin.

The local community is in shock and mourning after hearing the news of the untimely loss of the young life.
