The 2023 NZ Asian Perception of Alcohol & Other Substance Survey is now open, and all members of the Asian community residing in the country are invited to participate.

In particular, the survey explores how often Asian communities experience using alcohol and other substances, the reasons for their use, and access to information or support resources. This information will help different agencies to formulate strategies and policies for the health of the Asian population in New Zealand.
The research is being carried out by Trace Research, which is a consumer insight-driven research establishment that utilises scientific data analytics in developing proven marketing insights and strategies; and Synergia, a leading Australasian analytics, consulting and evaluation group. It was commissioned by Asian Family Services and New Zealand Drug Foundation.
Dr Andrew Zhu, Founder of Trace Research, says, “The survey will take five minutes to complete, and your participation is voluntary. It is anonymous, so participants can feel free to express their opinions and experiences honestly. We acknowledge the potentially sensitive nature of these questions and have used best practices to guide us in how they are asked. This survey allows you to share your thoughts and experiences related to alcohol and other substances. Your participation will help us understand the perceptions and behaviours of Asian communities in New Zealand regarding substance use. The data gathered from this survey will be used to inform policy and prevention initiatives in the future."
