Papatoetoe based Indian restaurant classed at Omicron location of interest

Popular Indian restaurant Shivani in South Auckland's Papatoetoe has been declared as new location of Interest linked with latest Omicron outbreak on Monday evening.

Those who were at Shivani Restaurant between 12 pm and 1 pm on Sunday, January 16, are being asked to self-isolate and get tested immediately as well as on day 5 after being exposed there by the Ministry of Health.

As a precaution, the restaurant is closed for public since yesterday afternoon.

When contacted Abhinav Arora, Director Shivani, told Indian Weekender, said, “ We are closed for public for three days as we have been told by the Ministry to get all the staff who were present at Shivani on Jan 16 during 12 pm and 1 pm to get tested. We hope to open our restaurant on Friday if everything goes well. We want to abide by all the instruction of the ministry and want to do everything which is in best interest of the community.”

Meanwhile, Private event Pukekohe Indian Hall has also classed as close contact locations of interest on Monday evening. Those who were there between 6.45pm and 10.45pm on the January 16 are being asked to self-isolate and get tested immediately.
