Police have made a sixth arrest this afternoon in relation to the Wattle Downs assault incident on December 23, 2020.
A man, aged 26, is currently in custody and will also be charged with Attempted Murder as previously arrested five men.
He is expected to appear in the Manukau District Court tomorrow.
Earlier this morning, Counties Manukau Police had carried out warrants at multiple addresses in Flat Bush and Papatoetoe and arrested five men for the attempted murder of controversial radio host Harnek Singh.
“The five men are aged between 24 and 39, were arrested, charged and appeared at the Manukau District Court on Thursday afternoon,” investigating officer Detective Inspector Chris Barry from Counties Manukau Police said.
The victim has been discharged from hospital and is continuing to recover from serious injuries sustained during the attack.
Mr Singh was stabbed multiple times in the driveway of his home on Glenross Drive, Wattle Downs and remained in a critical condition at Middlemore hospital fighting for his life.
Mr Singh was a host at Radio Virsa and was targeted because of his controversial views on religious and cultural issues.
This was a second attack on Mr Singh last year; he was first attacked on his birthday at Love Punjab Restaurant in July 2020.
All six men will appear at High Court in Auckland next month.
