7 new cases of Covid-19, 6 in community and one from overseas, 15 recoveries

Director of Public Health Dr Caroline McElnay said there are 7 new cases of Covid-19 reported in the last 24 hours, all but one in the community related to the Auckland cluster. 

Of the six community cases, five are household contacts and one linked to workplace. Of the cases announced today, one is a student from Mt Albert Grammar School who hasn't attended the school since 12 August and Auckland Regional Public Health has been in touch with the school authorities.

The one imported case reported today is a woman in her 20s who travelled from Turkey via London on 22 August and was tested positive on Day 3 of her stay in self isolation. She has been moved into quarantine facility. 

There are 2455 close contacts identified of the Auckland cluster, of which 2404 have been contacted and asked to self isolate.

159 people linked to the initial community cluster are at Auckland quarantine facilities, 85 of whom tested positive. 

A total of 10 number of people are hospitalised with 2 in ICU. 2 in Auckland Hospital, 3 in North Shore Hospital of which one is in ICU and 4 at Middlemore, with one in ICU. 

There has been 15 new recoveries reported that brings the active cases to 126 (11 imported) and the total confirmed cases till date is 1351 as reported to WHO. 

There was 9257 tests conducted yesterday that brings the total tests done till date to 719,320.
