Chch mosque shooting: Faces of Kiwi-Indian victims emerge

Names of five Kiwi-Indians who died in the Christchurch mass shooting rampage has been revealed. The total number of Indians who are injured or killed in this incident is not confirmed yet, but the authorities release the names of the victims as the news develops.

Of the 50 declared dead, the seven Kiwi-Indians named so far are father-son Arif Vora (58) and Ramiz Vora (28), 46-year-old Imran Khan, 31-year-old Farhaj Ahsan, 64-year-old Mehboob Khokar, 24-year-old Ozair Kadir, and 23-year-old Kerala woman Anci Ali Bawa.

Amongst injured is Kiwi-Indian Ahmed Iqbal Jahangeer from Hyderabad who works in the hospitality industry.

The attack on two Christchurch mosques on Friday, March 15 has shocked the world with a number of candle vigils held in several cities as a tribute to the victims of the senseless attack.

Police updated the death toll from 49 to 50 on Sunday morning, March 17; and victims of the attack range from as young as two years old to over the age of 60. As per the details released by the authorities, 36 people injured remain in the Christchurch Hospital.

Kerala woman Anci Ali Bawa had come to New Zealand a year ago as a student of agriculture at a university in South Island. Her husband Nazar escaped unhurt.
