‘James & Nagar Baul’ live in concert

After enormous success of ‘Ayub Bachchu & LRB live concert 2011’ in Auckland, the Bengali community is proud to present once again the renowned Bangladeshi band ‘James & Nagar Baul’live concertin Auckland on Sunday, 24 February, at Avondale College Theatre, Victor Street, Avondale at 5pm.

Through this musical show, the Bengali community aims at getting people together through shared cultural connections. The tiny but music loving Bengali community in Auckland has extended their hands to support this upcoming concert.
 
Stylishly longhaired James - popularly known as the Nagar Baul (the Urban Bard) - was the pioneer of psychedelic rock in Bangladesh. But his musical diversity includes various varieties of Rock music and Blues Music. Originally a lead singer and guitarist, his presence in Bengali rock music has been prolonged; his influence on those of successive generations has been profound.
 
James brought up his band ‘Nagar Baul’ (formerly known as ‘Feelings’) from the deepest of his impulse, something beyond just his devotion for music. He shot to fame in the mid-1990s with his distinctive style, blending western instruments with lyrics and tunes that were based on Bengali culture.
 
He rose to fame internationally with his Hindi song 'Bheegi Bheegi', written for the 2006 Bollywood hit film Gangster (which topped b4u Hindi song top chart constantly for four weeks). He also playback ‘Chal Chalein’ in Woh Lamhe, ‘Rishtey’ & ‘Alvida’ in Life in A Metro and also for some other famous movies. At the moment he is working for few new Hindi movie songs.
 
At present Nagar Baul performes with the line-up of Sabbir on Bass Guitar, Rana on Lead Guitar, Khayam on Keyboard, Zimi on Drums and James on Lead Guitar & Vocal. James & Nagar Baul performed in more than thousand gigs in their home country and abroad. They traveled extensively in USA, Europe, Australia, Canada, Japan, Dubai and India, Middle East.
