Police have confirmed that a person has died following a reported assault on a bus in Onehunga at 2:30 p.m. this afternoon.
"Police can confirm that a person has died following an assault on a bus in Onehunga, reported at 2.30pm this afternoon," a police press statement read.
Investigators are urgently working to locate the offender, who has been identified through CCTV footage. Sections of Captain Springs Road and Church Road are currently closed as the investigation continues
A person was injured after an assault on a bus in Auckland's Onehunga today.
St John, Hato Hone, said one ambulance and three rapid response units responded to reports of an assault in Onehunga at 2.29pm today.
One person was taken to Auckland City Hospital in a critical condition.
A police spokesperson said they were working to figure out the circumstances surrounding the assault.
In a statement, police said parts of Captain Springs Road and Church Road were closed while emergency services responded.
"Motorists are asked to avoid the area and expect delays while the incident is resolved."
