Auckland, New Zealand – The New Zealand Community Trust (NZCT) has granted $6,500 to the Auckland Indian Sports Club to provide new uniforms for its cricket teams, enhancing the club’s capacity to foster emerging talent and strengthen its community presence.

According to Club Secretary Vinod Patel, the grant is essential for ensuring that players and coaches have the necessary equipment. “For our emerging players, having the right kit is crucial to developing clear pathways in their sporting journey. NZCT’s support not only sustains our club but extends valuable sporting, training, and recreational resources to the wider Auckland community,” he said.

Patel highlighted the role of the club in building friendships and community bonds. “Our members have grown through sport alongside friends they’ve known since childhood. Thanks to NZCT, we’re able to keep registration fees low, making it easier for locals to join and form connections. Many lifelong friendships in our community were first forged on the sports field.”

The NZCT grant also enhances the club’s focus on overall well-being. “This support allows us to maintain our teams, improve physical fitness, and enjoy the mental benefits that come from social bonds formed through sport,” added Patel.

Alpesh Patel, Vice-President of the club, emphasized the role of sports in youth development. “Sports build confidence and teach teamwork from an early age, encouraging fitness and positive habits that benefit both individuals and the community,” he noted.

Ben Hodges, NZCT’s GM of Grants, Marketing, and Communications, underscored the broader benefits of community sports. “Joining a sports club promotes physical and mental health, particularly for new New Zealanders. We’re proud that funds raised through responsible gaming with trusted Auckland partners are contributing to this positive community impact.”
