The newly opened Consulate General of India in Auckland will soon begin full operations. Currently, it is temporarily operating from the Mahatma Gandhi Centre at 145 New North Road, Eden Terrace, Auckland, providing all services except OCI and visa processing. Full operations are expected to commence in May this year.

The office aims to streamline consular processes and cater to the diverse needs of Indians in New Zealand, ensuring more efficient and convenient interactions with consular authorities.

“The Consulate of India will be opening a new office on Queen Street in Auckland CBD. We want to start full operations as soon as possible,” said Consul General of India, Dr. Madan Mohan Sethi, at a press meet.

Dr. Sethi and Consul Sanjeev Kumar encouraged the community to book appointments online at cgiauckland.gov.in for prompt and smooth processing.

“Community members who wish to seek consular services will be given priority if they book an appointment online,” said Kumar.

For those unable to book online or who face technological challenges, assistance will be provided.

“We understand the challenges older individuals face in booking services online and are developing a way to reach them directly for a seamless experience,” assured Dr. Sethi.

Two key services—OCI (Overseas Citizenship of India) and visa processing—are expected to be introduced soon.

“Due to technical issues, we have not yet been able to start these two services,” said Kumar.

“The software required to process them is not yet available, but things are progressing, and we hope to have these services at the Consulate by the end of this month,” he added.

The Consulate General of India (CGI) in Auckland handles consular services for three regions in New Zealand: Northland (Region 1), Auckland (Region 2), and Waikato (Region 3). Residents of these areas must submit their applications at the CGI Auckland office. For applicants residing in the South Island or outside these regions, all consular service applications must be directed to the High Commission of India in Wellington.
