Amanjeet Singh, a 30-year-old man of Indian origin, was found dead on 24 July 2024 at St Heliers beach in Auckland. The discovery of his body has prompted a police investigation.

Local residents reported seeing police cordoning off a section of the beach where Singh's body was found lying face down in the sand. Authorities received a call from a member of the public at 7:13 am, initially identifying the deceased as a “young man” based on his clothing.

The Indian Weekender contacted the police to confirm the man's identity. “Police can confirm the man who was located deceased on Ladies Bay Beach on 24 July was Amanjeet Singh,” officials stated in an email.

“Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.”

Police are investigating Singh’s death on behalf of the Coroner and have stated that there are no suspicious circumstances at present. As part of their inquiries, police are seeking information from anyone who had contact with or saw Singh between 5:15 pm on 23 July and 7:00 am on 24 July.

Ladies Bay, where Singh’s body was found, is described on the Auckland Council website as a "private and isolated beach that isn't suitable for young people or families."
