The Consulate General of India in Auckland is set to celebrate the 76th Republic Day of India on Sunday, January 26, 2025, marking the first large-scale gathering hosted by the newly established Indian Consulate.
The event will take place at the Mahatma Gandhi Centre, located at 145 New North Road, Eden Terrace, Auckland 1021, from 9:45 AM onwards. The programme will kick off with the unfurling of the Indian flag by Consul General Dr. Madan Mohan Sethi, followed by a reading of the President of India’s address to the nation.
Political leaders, government officials, and prominent members of the Indian community, alongside friends of India, are expected to attend. Remarks from local political leadership and Indian community leaders will highlight the significance of the occasion and its relevance both to India and the Indian diaspora in New Zealand.
At the gathering, the Consulate will also share information on initiatives like Incredible India and Invest India to promote tourism and investment opportunities in India. Cultural performances, planned by local Indian community associations, will add to the celebrations.
The event is expected to conclude by noon.
