The Hindu Heritage Centre in Rotorua announces the International Coffee Painting Exhibition, featuring celebrated artist Uday Korde from Gujarat, India. Sponsored by the Gujarat State Lalit Kala Academy, the exhibition is set to take place from 18 to 20 October 2024.
Uday Korde, a master of Rangoli, painting, coffee portraits, and sketches, is well-known for his innovative use of coffee powder as a medium. His creative process has earned him a spot in the India Book of Records for the most coffee paintings, including portraits of prominent figures such as the President and Prime Minister of India. With over 300 coffee paintings to his name, Korde has become a prominent figure in the contemporary art world.
The exhibition will open on Friday, 18 October, at 6:00 pm at the Hindu Heritage Centre. The event invites the Rotorua arts community to join an evening of art and culture, where attendees can meet the artist and gain insight into his unique artistic approach.
“We are thrilled to present Uday Korde’s work to our community,” said Dr. Guna Magesan, President of the Hindu Council of New Zealand. “This exhibition will be a significant cultural event for the Hindu Heritage Centre, enriching our appreciation for diverse artistic expressions.”
The Centre has requested support from the Rotorua Civic Arts Trust, Rotorua Multicultural Council, The Arts Village Rotorua, and Creative Communities Rotorua Scheme to share this exhibition across their artist networks.
