Upcoming: Free open-air movie screening of Harry Potter in Hillsborough

Excitement is building as the next edition of Movies in Parks by Auckland Council is due this weekend with the screening of "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" at Hillsborough Road. 

Preparations are underway for what promises to be a magical night under the stars on Friday, February 9, as the Puketāpapa Local Board will host a special screening at Monte Cecilia Park.

Families and friends are eagerly anticipating the opportunity to gather at this picturesque venue for an evening of cinematic wonder. Read the full schedule here.

Attendees are encouraged to bring picnic blankets and snacks as they settle in to enjoy the beloved tale of Harry Potter's first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

As the sun sets over Monte Cecilia Park on Friday evening, the outdoor screen will illuminate the park, creating a captivating atmosphere for viewers of all ages.

Once the movie begins at 6.45 pm, cheers are expected to erupt from the crowd as Harry, Hermione, and Ron embark on their thrilling adventures. From the majestic halls of Hogwarts to encounters with magical creatures, audiences will be transported to the enchanting world created by JK Rowling.

As the credits roll and the night draws to a close at 11:15 pm, families are likely to linger, reluctant to leave the enchantment of Monte Cecilia Park behind. 

Auckland Council has organised a series of such open air movie screening.
