Papatoetoe's Kolmar Road is making headlines again for the wrong reasons just weeks after a bloody robbery. On the night of July 26, DH Supermarket fell victim to a break-in around midnight.

The store was closed when the incident occurred. Owner Raj Brar shared that details are scarce regarding the number of perpetrators, as the CCTV footage is still being reviewed.

New call-to-action

"The fence was broken, the glass was shattered, and the alleged robbers attempted to steal cash but found nothing," Brar told The Indian Weekender.

According to Brar, the alleged robbers left as soon as local security arrived.

"I got a call from the alarm company when the shop alarm went off. The local security rushed to the scene as I stay 20 minutes away from my shop," he explained.

Brar stated that the police were informed immediately after the break-in, but he was advised to "leave everything as it is" for an investigation the next morning.

"Nobody has come yet to assess the situation," said Brar.

Just weeks earlier, Gurdeep Singh Luther, 50, owner of Pooja Jewellers on the same road, was seriously injured in a violent robbery involving three armed thieves. This incident occurred at 5:45 pm on June 23, 2024. The New Zealand police had addressed the incident in a press release.

"Petty crime has become a daily routine in New Zealand now. Every day we hear something new. It is scary," Brar said, reflecting a growing sense of unease.

The owners are still working to retrieve the CCTV footage to determine how many individuals were involved.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
