BAPS Charities NZ Leads Relief Efforts In Wairoa Flood Recovery

BAPS Charities New Zealand has played a crucial role in the recovery efforts following the devastating floods in Wairoa, showcasing a remarkable commitment to community welfare. The organisation's swift and comprehensive response highlighted their dedication to aiding those affected by the disaster.

In the wake of the floods, BAPS Charities quickly mobilised to provide relief. They donated 100 carefully packed boxes filled with essential items such as non-perishable food, hygiene products, and medical supplies. These boxes contained canned goods, breakfast cereals, tea, milk, soup, pasta, noodles, rice, soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, sanitary pads, hand sanitizers, nail clippers, deodorant, body lotion, and over-the-counter medications.

This extensive provision addressed the immediate needs of flood victims, offering crucial support during a challenging period.

Beyond these donations, BAPS Charities Volunteers played a vital role in the recovery process by coordinating cleaning services to help restore normalcy. A dedicated team of 21 volunteers contributed over 84 hours to clean both private residences and public spaces. Their efforts were key in helping the community return to a safe and sanitary environment.

The impact of these contributions was profound. Families directly benefited from the essential care items, and the thorough cleaning services significantly accelerated the recovery of affected areas. The beneficiaries expressed deep gratitude for the timely support and meticulous care provided by BAPS Charities.

Local leaders also expressed their appreciation for the support. Lewis Ratapu, General Manager of Tatau Tatau o Te Wairoa, Jeremy Harker, a dedicated councilor, and Deputy Mayor Denise Eaglesome-Karekare all conveyed their heartfelt thanks. Deputy Mayor Eaglesome-Karekare noted, “The communities of Wairoa deeply appreciate this support and will forever be in your debt, considering you a friend of this community forever.”
