Texas Unveils 90-Ft Hanuman Statue, 3rd Tallest In US: Details Inside
A grand Pran Pratishtha ceremony took place in Houston, Texas, on Sunday, August 18, marking the inauguration of a towering 90-foot Hanuman statue. According to Latestly, this is the third tallest statue in the United States.
Named the 'Statue of Union,' the monument celebrates Lord Hanuman's pivotal role in reuniting Sri Rama and Sita. The statue was installed at the Sri Ashtalakshmi Temple in Sugar Land, Texas, under the guidance of His Holiness Sri Chinnajeeyar Swamiji, the visionary behind the project.
The statue is described as North America's tallest Hanuman statue, standing as an "embodiment of strength, devotion, and selfless service." According to the Statue of Union’s official website, this project aims to create a spiritual epicenter where individuals can seek divine blessings and find solace, peace, and transcendence.
Crafted from Panchaloha, the 90-foot statue symbolises Lord Hanuman’s enduring qualities of benevolence and hope. The website encourages community involvement to ensure the statue's legacy, stating, "Together, let’s continue to create a world filled with love, peace, and devotion."
Hanuman, a revered figure in Hinduism, is typically worshipped in temples either dedicated solely to him or as part of larger shrines devoted to Lord Rama. His legendary feats, as told in the Sanskrit Ramayana by Sage Valmiki, highlight his extraordinary strength, courage, and unwavering loyalty to Lord Rama, making him a symbol of devotion in Hindu culture.
