Pawanjit Singh Ghatora Loses Leg After Being Hit By A Car

Pawanjit Singh Ghatora was left with life-altering injuries after being struck by a car and pinned against a power pole in Te Atatū on February 1st, 2025, Stuff has reported. The crash resulted in the amputation of his leg below the knee.
Ghatora had been out walking with his elderly father when a vehicle veered off the road and hit him. He recalled seeing a high-speed crash unfold before the car suddenly turned towards him, leaving him with no time to react. His leg was completely crushed, and he remained conscious through much of the aftermath.
Emergency services rushed him to Auckland City Hospital in critical condition, where doctors worked to stabilise him. Despite their efforts, the severity of his injuries led to the amputation.
Christopher Bradley, Ghatora’s former employer, described him as a dedicated husband, father, and valued community member who was now enduring immense physical pain, rehabilitation, and emotional trauma. He also noted that Ghatora’s father narrowly escaped injury but was deeply shaken after witnessing the devastating incident.
Hato Hone St John confirmed that three people were reportedly injured in the crash and were taken to Auckland Hospital for treatment. Investigations into the circumstances of the accident are ongoing.
