The Hindu Women Forum (HWF), a branch of the Hindu Council of New Zealand, is presenting the Tongariro Alpine Crossing event, aimed at empowering women through a combination of physical challenge and spiritual connection. Situated in Tongariro National Park, the Tongariro Alpine Crossing is among New Zealand's most renowned and picturesque hikes, celebrated for its stunning landscapes and cultural significance.

This 19.4-kilometre trek will unite women from various backgrounds. It will offer a chance to experience the beauty of New Zealand's wilderness while fostering a sense of community and personal growth. The event will take place in November 2024 and February 2025.

While the focus is on women, families are encouraged to participate, providing moral and physical support and turning it into a wonderful family outing.

The ideal time to undertake the Tongariro Alpine Crossing is from late October to late April when the weather is more stable, temperatures are milder, and the trail is snow-free, enhancing safety and enjoyment for hikers.

Based on community interest, HWF has scheduled two trips, one in November and another in February. November features fewer crowds and beautiful spring blooms, while February is the busiest period, with more hikers expected on the trail.
