Fun, Food & Family: Radio Spice & Akal Foundation Offers Day Of Joy
The Family Fun Day, held on Sunday, 2 February, at the Vector Wero Whitewater Park, proved to be a spectacular event, leaving families and children with big smiles and unforgettable memories. Organised by Radio Spice and the New Zealand Punjabi Multimedia Trust (NZPMT), in collaboration with the Akal Foundation, the event offered a unique experience designed for all ages.
Focused on bringing the community together, the Family Fun Day was filled with exciting water activities such as rafting, kayaking, paddling, and various other water sports. More than 350 pre-registered attendees participated in the water-based fun, while around 250 people joined to enjoy a relaxing picnic and indulge in delicious food.
Attendees were treated to free barbeque offerings, including both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, along with snacks and a variety of giveaways courtesy of the dedicated team of volunteers from NZPMT/Radio Spice. The event was a true celebration of the community, offering activities and entertainment for everyone, from young children to senior citizens. Fun games like musical chairs, passing the ball, and beans & chopsticks kept the crowd engaged, and prizes were handed out to the winners.
The event was graced by a number of dignitaries, who were honoured for their support and involvement. Attendees included Rima Nakhle, M.P. for Takanini; Dr. Parmjeet Parmar, M.P. (ACT Party); Daniel Newman, Councillor for Papakura & Manurewa; Jagjit Singh, Honorary Consulate of Georgia; and other local board members from Otara-Papatoetoe and Howick.

Parminder Singh, Chairperson of NZPMT, and Navtej Singh Randhawa, Trustee, took a moment to express their gratitude to the event’s sponsors and stakeholders for their invaluable contributions. Among those acknowledged were Raghbir Singh J.P. (Akal Foundation), Pawandeep Singh (Kiwiana Immigration), Harinder Mann (Dominos), J.P. Sahota (Pizza Hut), Daljinder Pangly & Gary Bal (Harcourts Manurewa), Capital Finance, Kishna Yoghurt & Paneer, Kamaldeep Singh (J.P.), Ranjay Sikka (Slumber Zone), Kuldip Arora (Tech Crazy), and many others.
Special recognition was also given to Divya Sharma, Manager of Radio Spice/NZPMT, and Navdeep Kataria, Business Development & IT Support, for their hard work and dedication in ensuring the event’s success.
The Family Fun Day was not just an event; it was a celebration of community spirit, fun, and togetherness, leaving everyone looking forward to the next edition.
