Dunedin Diwali Festival To Light Up More FM Arena

The Dunedin Indian Association invites the community to celebrate the Dunedin Diwali Festival on November 9, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the More FM Arena. This vibrant, family-friendly event will showcase the rich tapestry of Indian culture with a range of activities and attractions.

Festival-goers can immerse themselves in the magic of Diwali with live music, authentic Indian cuisine, and captivating cultural performances. The event will feature a variety of food stalls offering street food classics like samosas, onion bhaji, and aloo bonda, alongside refreshing beverages such as mango lassi and kid-friendly treats.

The festival will highlight traditional dance performances, including Mohiniyattam, Garba, Bhangra, and Bollywood styles, presented in collaboration with local dance and music schools such as MāyāDharā, Naatya, RASA, and Ragalayam.

Attendees can also enjoy a cultural fashion show, traditional activities like henna tattooing, saree-draping, and turban-tying, as well as interactive games and activities suitable for all ages. With free entry and an expected turnout of over 1,000 people from Dunedin and the wider Otago region, the festival aims to celebrate and share the diversity of Indian heritage with the local community.
