Bhartiya Samaj Senior Citizens Welcome Indian Consul General

The Bhartiya Samaj Senior Citizens gathering on February 22, 2025 in Auckland was a day of joy, appreciation, and cultural celebration as Dr. Madan Mohan Sethi, Consul General of India in Auckland, and his wife, Ms. Swagatika Bhuyan, received a warm reception from the community. The seniors welcomed them with a standing ovation and prolonged applause, making the occasion especially memorable.

The event commenced with prayers, followed by birthday celebrations for senior members and an invigorating exercise session. A key highlight was the formal reception and honoring of Dr. Sethi and Ms. Bhuyan with a traditional shawl. Addressing the attendees, Dr. Sethi reassured the seniors of his continued support and shared news about the Consulate’s upcoming relocation, aimed at enhancing accessibility for the Indian community in Auckland.

Among the notable guests were NZ Police Ethnic Responsiveness Manager Jessica Phuang and Bhartiya Samaj Patron Dr. Bruce Hucker, both of whom addressed the gathering. They commended the organisation’s commitment to inclusivity and its efforts in supporting and empowering seniors.

The event featured lively performances, including professional singers and seniors showcasing their musical talents through song and dance. Adding to the charm of the occasion, Ms. Swagatika Bhuyan captivated the audience with a beautiful musical performance.

The celebration concluded with a delicious lunch, leaving attendees with cherished memories of a day filled with warmth, entertainment, and community spirit.
