Auckland’s Punjabi Community Shines Bright With Generosity On Gurpurab
The spirit of giving took centre stage as the New Zealand Punjabi Media Trust (NZPMT) and Radio Spice marked Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Gurpurab with a heartfelt fundraising effort for the Starship Foundation. With a goal of $10,000, the community rallied together, surpassing expectations to raise an incredible $12,551.
On November 26, this generosity was celebrated in a special handover ceremony where Gina Ferguson, Community Fundraising Manager for the Starship Foundation, received the donation. These funds will directly support children and families under the foundation’s care, making a meaningful difference in their lives.
“This remarkable contribution reflects the values Guru Nanak Dev Ji taught us—selfless service, compassion, and kindness,” shared the trustees of NZPMT. “The outpouring of support from our community reaffirms these principles, and we are deeply grateful to everyone who joined us in this noble cause.”

Echoing this gratitude, Gina Ferguson expressed, “Your kindness and generosity will have a real, tangible impact, providing vital care and support for those in need. Thank you for your incredible commitment to making a difference.”
The event was attended by NZPMT staff and supporters, all united by a shared sense of purpose and celebration. As the trustees reflected, this effort was not just about raising funds but embodying the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji—an enduring call to live with love, kindness, and a commitment to helping others.
