2nd NZ Hindu Elders Conference Set for October In Rotorua
The Hindu Elders Foundation, a branch of the Hindu Council of New Zealand, has announced the 2nd New Zealand Hindu Elders Conference, set to take place on Saturday, 26th October 2024, at the Hindu Heritage Centre in Rotorua. This year's theme, "Old is Gold 2," continues the focus on celebrating the contributions of elders in the community, building on the inaugural conference held 15 years ago.
Originally scheduled for 28th September, the event was rescheduled and will feature four key sessions, including collaborations with government agencies and discussions on positive ageing, health, and well-being.
Key local and national leaders, including the Mayor and MP for Rotorua, are expected to speak at the opening session, reflecting on the impact of the past 15 years since the first conference, which was inaugurated by the then-Māori King.
Dr. Guna Magesan, President of the Hindu Council of New Zealand and Conference Coordinator, emphasized the importance of networking and building support systems for elders. "This event empowers Hindu elders to live confidently and remain active members of New Zealand society," he said.
