Sikkim recognized as World's First Organic and crime-free state

The "World Book of Records London" has named the north-eastern state of Sikkim as the "world's first organic state."

This award highlighted Sikkim's status as the world's first state to establish a 100 percent organic policy, effectively eliminating the use of chemical fertilisers and pesticides - a shift that has helped over 66,000 agricultural households.

Governor Ganga Prasad of Sikkim was designated the "first Organic State in the World" as well as the "Crime-Free State" with the finest governance award.

Meanwhile, WBR Chairman Dr. Diwakar Sukul and British Parliament MP Virendra Sharma thanked the Governor and the state on the honour.

It's worth mentioning that the London-based World Book of Records catalogues and authenticates outstanding records from all across the world. It has a worldwide network that allows it to function from any location on the globe.

The state also earned the UN Food and Agriculture Organization's (FAO) renowned Future Policy Gold Award, beating out 51 nominees from across the world. Pawan Kumar Chamling, the former Chief Minister of Sikkim, earned the prestigious honour.
