Life certificate attestation made more accessible

The Honorary Consul of India in Auckland, Bhav Dhillon, was part of a consular camp for senior citizens at the Balmoral community Hall in Sandringham, Auckland.

The Wednesday (November 16) event saw Mr Dhillon helping our elders with attestation of their life certificates, a mandatory requirement to get their pension.

It may be noted that overseas Indian pensioners must submit their Jeevan Pramaan or annual life certificate to the Pension Disbursing Agency (PDA) every year to keep drawing the pension. For those in NZ, the attestation is done by the office of the Consulate of India in Auckland, Onehunga or the High Commission of India in Wellington.

The event was organised by DISHA NZ Charitable Trust, established in April 2022, to support diverse communities via various programmes and activities.

“It was such a productive day. We sincerely thank the Honorary Consul of India, Mr Bhav Dhillon, for making a hassle-free experience for our seniors and attesting their life certificates. We thank him for answering all their queries about the Indian Consulate,” said Vicky Goel, one of the founders of Disha NZ.

The event saw Mr Dhillon attesting the life certificates for those who needed them at the event.

Some 60 people attended the event, and Mr Dhillon was seen even doing a Q&A session regarding their queries on various consular-related services and issues over lunch.

Mr Dhillon told Indian Weekender, “As the Honorary Consul of India in Auckland, it is my duty and endeavour to deliver seamless consular services for everyone who needs them, especially our loved seniors. This event was organised to help them clear some doubts about consular services, especially getting the life certificates attested. I hope to organise more such helpful camps for our community."

Shaila Massey, one of those who got her life certificate attested at the event, said, “It was such a great thing for the consulate of India to organise such a camp in Auckland. It was beneficial, and I am grateful to Mr Dhillon for being part of the same."
