NZ Indians invited to join ‘India @75’ celebrations

India celebrates the 75 years of its Independence [Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav] on August 15 this year. The official journey of “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” commenced on 12th March 2021 with a 75-week countdown to the 75th anniversary of Independence which will end on August 15, 2022.

The ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ commemorates 75 years of progressive India and the glorious history of its people, culture and achievements. Celebrations will be global and observed by people of Indian origin around the world.

This Mahotsav is dedicated to the people of India who have not only been instrumental in bringing India thus far in it’s evolutionary journey but also hold within them the power and potential to enable Prime Minister Modi’s vision of activating India 2.0, fuelled by the spirit of Atmanirbhar Bharat.

The High Commission of India in Wellington is spearheading the celebrations in New Zealand along with New Zealand Indian Diaspora Organisations with a series of events.

The High Commission of India along with Auckland Indian Diaspora Organisations has invited all Indian Nationals, Persons of Indian Origin, friends of India to celebrate the 75th Independence Day of India.

The programme is hosted by High Commission of India and the Auckland Indian Association at Mahatma Gandhi Centre, 145 New North Road, Auckland, starting 9:30 am onwards.

The programme will begin with flag hoisting by the High Commissioner of India, followed by national anthem and the reading of Rashtrapati’s message.

The Auckland’s Diaspora Organisations have put together a programme that will showcase the cultural richness of India’s diverse regions and people, all with our talented local artistes

On August 15, Hon. Priyanca Radhakrishnan, Minister for Diversity, Inclusion and Ethnic Communities will be conferred the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awards by High Commissioner His Excellency Shri Muktesh Pardeshi on behalf of the President of India.

The honour is awarded to acknowledge achievements of people of Indian origin living outside India.
